Dick was born 29 January 1947 in Edmonton, Alberta, and grew up in the little logging town of Port Alberni, in the middle of Vancouver Island. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

As a teenager, he worked summers (and the occasional winter!) in the local fishing and forestry industries.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

He attended the University of British Columbia, where he received a B.A. (Psychology) in 1972, then did a further two years of Graduate Studies in Psychology — trying to understand human behavior.

As of 29 April 2011, I still can’t claim to fully understand human behavior, but I have developed a working life philosophy that works amazingly well for me — see my ‘Self Help Guide’ page. 

 

 

MARKETING, MARKETING, MARKETING!

After University, Dick lived and worked in the Far East for 17 years, based in Singapore. Dick worked as a Regional Market Researcher and International Marketing Executive for several different companies, including multi-nationals Monsanto and Ciba-Geigy. He received some excellent training in Marketing, and achieved a number of brilliant marketing successes.

At Monsanto, Dick came up with a very innovative strategy that re-ignited sales of their Roundup herbicide to rubber and oilpalm growers — sales jumped from their plateau around 150,000 litres up to 1 million litres — giving the smallholders access to a very useful product, while making Monsanto many millions of dollars. At Ciba-Geigy, where Dick was in charge of marketing for Thailand, he managed to better than quadruple previously flat sales in a four year period.

REAL ESTATE!

The above background has told you that Dick is well-educated, and has had many years of marketing experience. He likes to be very clear that he is a genuine MARKETING MAN, as opposed to a salesman . Dick WILL NOT RESORT TO UNFAIR, UNDERHANDED OR DISHONEST TACTICS. 

Dick has now been a REALTOR, licensed in B.C., since 1993, away from September 2008 to March 2010 with a serious illness. When he took the Real Estate licensing course, he achieved an average of 96% on the 20 course assignments, and 96% on the licensing exam.

Dick has achieved various Real Estate industry awards, chiefly from the Sutton Group. Dick lives in Surrey, and works mostly in Surrey, North Delta and Langley. but is a Member of the Greater Vancouver Real Estate Board.

Dick’s philosophy  in Real Estate, as in his life — SOMETHING HE TRULY, DEEPLY, ABSOLUTELY BELIEVES — is summed-up in four simple but heart-felt words — feels right (to me) IS RIGHT(for me). Now, I’d like you to try it.

He truly and passionately believes that every human being is born into a sort of ‘heaven’ right here on earth , and that we get ‘out of harmony’ when we do hurtful things to others.

As crazy as this ‘heaven here on earth’ idea might sound, Dick enjoys living in his little piece of ‘heaven’, and hates getting ‘out of harmony’. He simply will NOT lie to you, nor attempt to misled you, nor cheat you (or anyone else!). Dick has two sons, Keith Rahzi Clouston, born 19 February 1976 and Allan Wenming Clouston, born 18 February 1990, both born in Singapore.  Keith lives in London, England. Allan lives in Vancouver.

Dick now lives in Guildford, North Surrey.

Dick’s hobbies include walking, reading, swimming, fishing , skiing, gyming, and cycling (bike and motorbike). Lately, truth be told, more TV watching and walking than any of these listed others.
